Olly’s Spring Update

We may be edging closer to Summer quicker than anticipated, so here is a quick Spring update on Olly.
Spring Time Lunging
In February, I started to bring Olly back into work by lunging him a couple of times a week.

First with a roller/side reins on and then with his tack/side reins on, then I finally got back onboard.
That was the best feeling ever!!!

We were doing really well and the weather was mostly fabulous, but then it turned wet and windy.
We planned to do our first ever dressage test in April but that soon went out the window.
Spring Ahead To March
In March I had to go to Salisbury for saddlery training, so Olly was left for a week…
…then another week…
…and then another week…
…until now, which is May!
Life Taking Over
I am the guilty party here and confess it’s been because life and work got a little overwhelming.
Outstanding leather repairs have needed to be done as well as bespoke orders started.
Then I had to find a part-time job so I could actually pay some household bills.
Olly Doesn’t Seem To Mind
It’s hard work trying to juggle everything but I don’t think Olly minds, he is still seen twice a day.
Now that the warmer weather has arrived he can have his rug off too.
Sadly with the warmer weather we always get the flies, so out comes the fly mask.

He’s certainly looking good for the time off.
The spring grass has sure got him galloping around the paddocks with his tail held high too.
Hopefully the next time I write we shall be riding again 🙂
