  • A Dream Becoming Reality…

    8th February 2017 / 0 Comments

I have always had the desire to become self employed and although I have had several businesses of my own I have always been a hard working and dedicated employee alongside them; after all this was always the wage that paid the bills at the end of the month. I have set up and run four businesses so far in my lifetime and although all of them have not been a raging success, nor survived to be five years old or more, I truly believe I have learnt invaluable lessons from each and every one of them. Since having the desire to become self employed again, I decided to move…

  • I Made A Martingale!!!

    29th July 2016 / 0 Comments

Friday’s are always a bit of a rush, or at least it seems like it and today was no exception, with most of the trainee’s (except for me and one other girl) doing their assessments. It’s only technically a half day till 1pm and most of us want to finish what we’re doing or at least be at a point where we can carry on at home with no issues. I did finished the martingale I was making in time but didn’t have time to do another one in the allocated 4½ hours for the practical aspect of the Level 2 exam, plus you have to sit two written papers,…

  • I Made A Bridle!!!

    28th July 2016 / 0 Comments

Today was completion (of snaffle bridle with reins) day and what a fab job I did, even if I do say so myself. Don’t get me wrong it’s not going to win any prizes and it’s nothing like what the qualified saddlers produce but I am well and truly happy with my attempt. What do you think? The final item that you have to make as part of this module is a running martingale. This item is what your assessed on during a 4½ hour practical assessment (as well as 2 written papers done separately) but obviously I am just learning all the techniques and the order in which to…

Bridle Making Week 2 – Mental Exhaustion

    27th July 2016 / 0 Comments

I’m a little later than normal posting this [sorry for that] purely because I got in, called home and then crashed on the bed. Exhausted! It’s not even a physical exhaustion either as I’ve not done much walking like I had planned [will do better tomorrow] but instead it’s a mental exhaustion having to take it all in, having to make notes, having to plan what to do next. Its a tough workout on the old brain of mine. So, where am I in the process of making my snaffle bridle I hear you ask…well… …on day 3 I almost, almost completed it. I finished stitching the ‘London chape’ (this…
