The time has come to spill the beans on an additional path of my journey I am about to start treading. Most of you will be familiar with this blog through my transition from a corporate office job to a qualified Saddler. Ultimately it still is but since my journey started in 2015 so much has happened and although I am still on track to qualify as a saddler I have unintentionally added another string to my bow which I feel will give me a wider variety of experiences as well as expand on my self development and networking circles. Have you heard of the phrase “Which hat will you…

  • Depression and my five tips on how to help yourself

    14th January 2017 /

I am not proud nor ashamed to say that I have and still do suffer with depression and anxiety. However I did used to believe that only ‘mad’ or ‘attention seeking’ people suffered with these characteristics…wow…how wrong was I?! I grew up in what seemed a tight knit family. My father was a hard working self employed gardener and my mother was an equally hard working employee. My grandparents, from my mothers side of the family, whom I spent a lot of time with were very well off. They owned a Wet Fish and Poultry shop in town and a large house with a Rolls Royce in the driveway. There…

Son made a mango, grape and strawberry smoothie with our new juicer (thanks @the_only_terezka for picking it up for me).

Then I did an avocado and feta cheese salad with mayo and hot sauce on top. yum πŸ˜‹

After 9mths off the road and most of that time on stilts with no wheels on, no prop shaft and holes in its sills, the old girl has been welded, put back together with new parts, she has finally PASSED her MOT.

Thank God for that...she will be needed in winter, where we live 🀣

Now, we need to pull the caravan out and see if she still stands. Your services may be needed @moawkati with that one πŸ€£πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Following a recent blood test, I am now classed as Following a recent blood test, I am now classed as having HIGH cholesterol.

I don't know yet if this has anything to do with the abnormality of my optic nerve as my referral to the hospital has been put off for two months due to COVID. So whatever tests I'm due to have will not be happening until at least September.

One thing is for certain though and that is that at 40 years old, I finally need to look at my lifestyle in order to keep the family hereditary heart disease at bay.

Two weeks ago, I was in the process of swapping to a KETO diet, which works on the basis of no (or low) carbs and high fats.

For now at least, I will have to rehash my diet to be low carbs and low fat in order to reduce my cholesterol level to below 5 (it's currently 7).

Another area of change has to be my exercise. I have gone from being very active (looking after my horse) to not active at all. So I looked up a yoga routine for beginners on YOUTUBE and started to do that every morning, and today, I went for a brisk walk/jog with daughter down the lane which we intend on keeping up.

Its tiny steps in comparison to what some people do, but I know my commitment and discipline to things like this in the past has been rubbish and I get overwhelmed and stop but being as it has to be a lifestyle change (more than a quick fix to lose weight) I have to enjoy every step and not push too hard.

In an ideal world I'd love to lose 2st. I'm not sure if losing this much would suit me as I've always been curvy, but to have a toned body again would be nice and at the very least lowering my cholesterol is the MAIN GOAL here.

My other alternative is to take medication in the form of statins all my life, and to be honest at 40, I feel too young to be relying on the NHS just yet.

I've taken before and after pictures of myself, but I'm far too embarrassed to bare all on social media, so I'll spare you that image but I'm happy to tell my story. You never know, someone here may be experiencing the same.

I tell You what though, it comes to something when I leave it till the health of my heart is in jeopardy to get fit and eat clean.

End of an Era for my boy. He officially leaves Pr End of an Era for my boy.

He officially leaves Primary school as of this week and starts High School in September.

Who would have thought the clingy little boy we dropped off at nursery all those years ago would become the confident young man (sometimes a little too confident) who is looking forward to his next stage of schooling, especially computer club and all the sports he will be able to do, both in and after school. βš½οΈπŸˆπŸπŸŽΎπŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸ€β›·

Apparently, he's going to be a computer programmer and a professional gamer with his own Youtube channel πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ

We'll see what he says in a years time lol 🀣🀯
