Start of the New Year

Start Of A New Year

The start of a new year always gives me a feeling of freshness, innovation, and the need to start a new chapter in the book of life but this year it is a little different because it’s also the start of a new decade which fills me with hope, dreams and a new sense of determination.

The last decade for me was a challenging one. I can distinguish it well as it was also the start of a new journey for us in terms of renting a property instead of owning one.

I had brought my first horse and subsequently lost him to almost financial ruin three years later.

We had a young family and we were both in jobs that were both stressful and pulling us down in ways we never thought imaginable.

I had a mental breakdown and survived; hubby went through a bad time at work (and survived) which eventually gave us both the push to change our jobs.

We have both loved and lost various pets, family members and friends but one thing is for certain, we are still here, fighting another day and doing it together.

Learn & Adapt

I started training to become a Saddler and subsequently launched The Lady Saddler, which continues today to grow slow and steady.

I’m very passionate to be building a business that promotes handmade leather work using traditional skills whilst using British materials wherever possible as well as become as ethically sustainable as possible.

My husband started his own business and continues to grow that in a different direction to originally planned but is also now looking to get back into employment which will bring with it a more regular income that has been something we have lacked of late.

We have had lots of bad luck and we have had some good come into our lives to.

That’s just the way of the world, I am sure and we can’t change that but we sure can learn from it and adapt and become stronger for sure.

I’m a true believer that everything happens for a reason and we are not just put on this earth to survive…we are here to learn AND teach…after all, that is what creates history, right?

Whatever happens this year, I believe it is already written in the stars but I count my blessings daily regardless for a happy and healthy family life and I look forward to challenges the universe may throw at us.

Christmas 2019

Did you all have a wonderful Christmas?

We did!

For the first time in a long time we created memories that will last a lifetime with people we cherish very much.

If you didn’t think your Christmas was so wonderful, then don’t fret. That was sooo last year…we have THIS year to look forward to now and that is all that matters, right?

Don't look back, you're not going that way.
This quote always comes to mind when I think of looking forward to the future…

Our children are not so small now and therefore we are having to make Christmas special in other ways, being as the magic of believing in Santa is wearing very thin.

I’m sure they go along with my stories just to keep me happy.

However, with the impending plans for my parents to move to France this year, I envisage us having Christmas in France this December.

That will be a bit different to what we are used to, but who knows, maybe we will win the lottery, which in that case we will be on a beach in Australia or somewhere. lol.

Are You New To This Blog?

Are you new to this blog? If so, you are very welcome. Be sure to read my welcome blog here.

If you are a regular follower, then thank you for sticking by me on my crazy journey, I hope you are enjoying it so far, I know I am. 🙂

This blog has had SO many make overs and has flitted from one thing to another but it’s all about me, what I get up to and in part my family.

Nothing too dramatic; I’m not trying to sell you the latest on trend makeup or fashion accessory and I have no desire to become the next guru of something weird and wonderful, but I intend to stay being me…

Little old me, in a little old cottage, living as large a life as I possibly can.

So without further ado, I want to wish you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year to you and yours.

Until next time, Clair x
